REVIEW: The Dirty Book Murder

The Dirty Book Murder: A Rare Book MysteryThe Dirty Book Murder: A Rare Book Mystery by Thomas Shawver

NOT A COZY MYSTERY!  This was a pretty good book-it popped up on my recommendations list as a Cozy Mystery but, it’s really anything but cozy; unless you like a sexy cozy!  There were a few places I had to skip over so if you are sensitive to erotic descriptions–this book will NOT be for you.

Michael is an antiquarian bookseller in Kansas City with a daughter and an interesting past and an auction that reveals shenanigans in the rare book world.  The plot moves along and the characters are interesting.  It’s a ‘wordy’ book instead of an action book, so it’s very readable and you don’t really notice there’s not much running around trying to solve the mystery.  There is a second book in this series that came out earlier this month.  I enjoyed Shawver’s writing style so I will be putting Left Turn at Paradise on my to-be-read list.  I was given a copy of the book-the review is my own.
