Mystery Monday

Welcome to September!  I’m ready for some cool weather so I can curl up with a cup of hot cocoa, a fuzzy blankie and a stack of COZY MYSTERIES.  I doubt we will see cool temps for quite a while but I can dream!

There are some super good cozies being released this week, and these are my top two picks to add to my to-read list:

Groomed For Murder (Pet Boutique #2)Groomed For Murder by Annie Knox

I got the cutest promotional postcard about this book from author Annie Knox.  The covers for Groomed for Murder and the first in the series, Paws for Murder, are so stinkin’ cute; if I was a craft person I would do something ‘crafty’ with them and put them in little frames!  A good cover will draw you into the book and Annie’s are among the best out there.

The premise for the series is that Izzy McHale opens the Trendy Tails Pet Boutique and madcap mayhem happens!  The pets are scalawags and the supporting characters are a hoot.  I’ve been waiting for Groomed for Murder to be released to see what this bunch will get up to next, luckily it will be available tomorrow.  Top of the must-read list for this one!!

Nightmares Can Be MurderNightmares Can Be Murder by Mary Kennedy

Another great cover!  This book is getting a LOT of buzz; it seems to be on every Cozy blog and list I’ve seen lately.  Hmmm, must be a reason!!

This book is another example of just when you think you’ve read every possible plot line for a cozy-WHAMMO-something different.  It seems pretty straightforward:  Taylor is helping her sister, Allison, follow her dream of owing a candy store.  Then we get to the new stuff:  Allison is active in a local Dream Club where members meet to discuss & analyze their dreams.

Of course there is a murder but in a setting eerily like one of the dreams the club discussed.  Allison is the prime suspect so Taylor investigates.  This was all the info I could get on the book but what a great teaser-I can’t wait to read this one.  I anticipate lots of sisterly interaction, rivalries, misunderstandings and love!

Mary Kennedy is a licensed psychologist so I’m curious to see how she blends the science with the cozy. This will also be released tomorrow.

Just a couple of great cozies you really “Otter” be reading this week!!
