A Royal Affair: A Sparks & Bainbridge Mystery

I liked this book. The ladies are drawn into intrigue over the potential engagement of Princess Elizabeth and a certain Greek Prince named Philip. Blackmail, scoundrels, skeletons in closets, and old secrets abound. It will take all the skills of the Right Sort Marriage Bureau to solve this one before the ‘royal affair’ comes crashing down.

These characters, main and supporting, are so well done. Interesting, with back stories that make sense and keep the plot turning. I love all the spy stuff from Iris and how Gwen uses her aristocratic connections to show how you don’t have to be a ‘real spy’ to work your network and find out stuff.

The plot in this one is excellent and so believable-Allison Montclair does a great job making it seem like this really happened and the story is just now being revealed. I did get a bit lost with all the names and who was who but that is more on me and my attention span than the author.

Overall, well done, and book three is on hold at the library.
