4 big fat stars! This book was so good! Morgan Carter runs a bookstore/curiosity shop but her real passion is cryptozoology. What the heck is that, you ask? It is searching for and (hopefully someday) finding cryptids like Loch Ness Monster or Bigfoot. Morgan is hired by the local police chief to help investigate when two victims are discovered with mysterious bite marks. Is it a lake monster or something more nefarious? It sounds silly but it is handled so nicely in the book. Morgan is written so that she acts like a real person-she has a history that is revealed a bit at a time and AN AWESOME DOG! The interactions with her and Jon are well done and not syrupy romantic, it plays out in a natural manner. I really liked the book and will definitely be on the lookout for the next book in the series.
