2 stars. The behind the scenes story of how Gloria put her husband into the Kansas City mayor’s office. The writing style was off-putting to me as Gloria’s voice comes through loud and clear. Every conversation, phone call, encounter, decision is from her point of view and how it affected her or made her life easier or more difficult. I went into the book hoping to get a better understanding of the Funk and how he navigated the political system in KCMO. This was more a stream of consciousness regurgitation of Gloria’s battles during his administration. I was mostly disappointed she was unable to rise above everything that happened and give us a fair look at how things went down. I was given a copy, this is my own opinion.
