Haunting Charlie (Witches of Palmetto Point #1) by Wendy Wang

This was good. Book one of a series; I think there are thirteen of them so far. Charlie is a psychic with some issues. Divorced, has a kid (ex has custody), her cousins are witches. She has a crappy job in a call center and is asked to help a woman with a ghost problem at her southern mansion. So far, so good, the book is rolling right along and then it gets spooky. Some real chills that surprised me-you could read alone at night, so nothing too scary but still a few places were creepy and more creepy. Great characters, the plot was interesting with some twists on the usual tropes of the reluctant psychic and the witches with their various skill sets. There is a cute guy, of course. The spooky stuff of the witches etc is handled pretty well. This is book one so there is a lot of juggling the different characters without getting to know them as well as I wanted; the next twelve books will hopefully flesh them out. The many, many grammatical and formatting errors dropped this down to three stars; seriously, get an editor that knows what they’re doing to proofread. Other than that, the ending was crazy good and I’m looking forward to book two.
