Whispers Underground by Ben Aaronovitch

Three stars for book three in this excellent series. Peter Grant (apprentice wizard/magician/cop) has his hands full in this one. First, his cousin sees a ghost near a railroad tunnel. Then there is a stabbing on the Underground tracks. Hmm, I see a pattern here! Yes, dear reader, Peter must investigate in the dark and super scary Tube tunnels and London sewer system. Good thing he has an FBI agent helping …. or hindering? Lots of secret, interesting things going on that tie back to the previous books creepy villain. The paranormal stuff in this one was more subtle and there was much more character exploration and development. There were a couple of new characters that fit right in and I hope we see them in later books. Parts of this did read like a tv script with some jumping around and odd scene transitions but if you just ”go with it’, it’s a really good story. I’m enjoying the series and will get onto book four.
