August Preview-Look At All These Books!!

What a great bunch of books being released in August! They all come out later in the month so get those pre-orders in-you don’t want to miss a minute of reading.

First up is My Roommate is a Vampire by Jenna Levine is a rom-com with a twist. Cassie is a struggling artist who finds a great apartment at a great price. Of course there is a ‘catch’ and her new roommate has a big secret. Frederick isn’t the usual sparkly trope vampire, he’s more of a lost nerd struggling to find his way in the modern world. This is a fun, funny story about love and friendship. It releases on the 29th.

Next let’s look at Dead Mountain (Nora Kelly #4) by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. Ooh, this one looks good! A ski trip to test new equipment goes wrong when NOBODY comes back. Yikes-wonder what happened? I’ve never read this series but it looks like Nora is some type of archaeologist and Corrie is an FBI agent. The plot is apparently inspired by the Dyatlov Pass incident back in 1959. I love these twisty mysteries and have high hopes that we ‘otter’ read this book. It releases on the 22nd.

Devil’s Gun by Cat Rambo, book #2 in the Disco Space Opera series. Cat is an acquired taste but I loved book one, You Sexy Thing. The series story line is a space crew of former solders trying to start over by opening a pop-up restaurant while avoiding a nasty space pirate. I mean, what else is there to say? Book one was hilarious and touching. This is a diverse cast of characters with humans, aliens, living space ships, and other things. I can’t wait to read this one, if you like your sci-fi weird, funny, and full of action, it releases on the 29th.

The last three I want to tell you about are COZIES and I know how much we all love our cozy mysteries. All three will release on the 22nd.

The Cozy Case Files, Volume 19 should be available as a free download on Amazon. If that changes, I will give you a heads up. This sampler will give us a look at eight new mysteries publishing this fall. Think spooky Halloween and snowy Christmas themes. Get ready to fill up your to be read list!

Catch Me If You Candy by Ellie Alexander is book 17 in A Bakeshop Mystery series. This one has a Halloween theme as murder visits the Shakespeare Festival and there is a dog! I’ve never read this series so I’m excited to take a look.

Cate Conte give us book 7 in the Cat Cafe Mystery series. This is another series I can’t wait to read but I will begin with this one-it’s another Halloween setting but in the Salem, Massachusetts area. There is a medium, a haunted inn, and a black cat! An unsolved murder and a missing maid from forty years ago tie into a brand new murder. Golly, don’t you just love small towns!!

Looks like August will be a great month for reading. I’m a little discombobulated by the Halloween and Christmas books already coming out. It’s still hot hot summer here in Missouri, I’m not ready for snow just yet!!
