Desert Star by Michael Connelly

This was a Renee Ballard and Harry Bosch story. It was good and moved right along. I felt like the middle got bogged down with Harry doing his usual weird existential angst thing ( with Jazz) but it recovered quickly and wrapped up the plot in the end. The story is that Renee has taken over a new unit for cold cases and asks Harry to join. He takes the opportunity to work on one of his old unsolved cases from before he retired. The supporting characters were okay, not fully developed but interesting, especially the genealogy DNA lady. This setup of volunteers helping solve cold cases has potential and I hope we get to revisit in future books. I did feel like I had read about this case before which distracted me as I wracked my brain trying to remember! I do watch a lot of true crime shows so maybe it was based on a real murder? 3 stars.
