Hiss Me Deadly by Miranda James

3 stars. The Cat In The Stacks cozy series just keeps chugging along with book fifteen. Is that right; have we been enjoying Charlie and his Maine Coon Cat for fifteen books? Yes, dear reader, we have, and this entry in the series drops us right into another intriguing mystery as Charlie and Diesel find themselves entangled in yet another murder investigation. Wil has returned to Athena after forty years which of course is the catalyst for old secrets and grudges to be revealed; secrets that lead to a shocking murder. Charlie tries his best to stay out of this one; but Melba is right in the thick of it so Charlie and Diesel are, too. I love this series, the characters act like real people-no huge dramatic scenes, just nice folks with jobs and lives that just happen to intersect with deadly danger and crafty killers. I was fooled (as usual!) as to the killer and the ending was really well done. The plot takes its time but the slower pace is nice and lets the reader enjoy meandering through the story. I recommend you take the day off and relax on the sofa with some sweet tea and catch up with the characters from Athena, Mississippi. I was given a copy-this is my own opinion.
