Fun and whimsical mystery. Tightly plotted with interesting and quirky characters. Beatrice has a secret-she is obsessed with crimes and murders, reading about them in the newspaper and trying to solve them herself. She tries to be a true lady and follow her communities strict code of etiquette and proper conduct, until a murder occurs at the autumnal ball. Beatrice finds herself investigating alongside an intriguing inspector as a storm traps family, guests, and the killer inside. This is a fast moving story that just keeps unfurling with more oddball people and secrets being revealed. The wrap up was good and the ending brought it all together. Very enjoyable and definitely an ‘otter’ read! 4 stars. I was given a copy-this is my own opinion.
